How To Use Digital Backdrops In a photo-editing program (such as PhotoShop/PhotoShop Elements etc.)
  • A Brief Overview: Digital Backdrops

  • The very best way is to first shoot your subject against a green or blue screen background. Green screens, often called ChromaKey Green (or Blue) works best because the color is scientifically formulated specifically for this type of process. If you do not have blue or green screen you can use any solid color backdrop such as white, gray, or black; it will work, although not as well.
  • Save the image to your hard drive and open it in Photoshop (or similar)
  • Use the magic wand mask utility to mask the green or blue area (the background); if you're using an existing image, first delete the existing background in the picture to isolate the subject and continue as directed.
  • Cut the masked area out.
  • Open one of the digital backdrops or images in the same screen.
  • Drag your first image, the subject, over the backdrop image and position and or size it to fit
  • Clean up any rough edges and stray pixels with the eraser tool or rubber stamp tool.
  • Now you may place this image on any of the digital backdrops or images you wish
  • You can print out the finished image, or you can place your new masterpiece on any web page for all the world to admire (Note: if you plan to post the new image online, be sure to reduce it to around 72px per inch; or in PhotoShop, just save a copy by choosing File> "Save for the web or devices" and PhotoShop will do it for you)
  • To use the digital backdrops as a background in any web page:
  • In any web or html editing program, go to "Page Properties" (or similar) and under "background colo / imager" navigate to your chosen digital backdrop and "Place" it as your pages's background
Don't have a photo-editing program, and can't afford to buy one? No problema. We'll show you where you can go and get a great photo-editing program - Free! That's right, 100% free. Be aware that it's not quite as powerful or as capable as PhotoShop, but for the price, you just can't go wrong! Right? The link to the free program is on the page you'll automatically be forwarded to right after you make any purchase from Photographer's SupplyStation. We're dedicated to free. Enjoy.
